Truly not a day goes by where something "techy" doesn't catch my eye and make me marvel at it.  While I find some of it nothing but a waste of time ( like aps that let you put bunny ears on your selfie) others are so impressive, that I wonder how you could live without it.
This came to light recently for me when we were given a loaner car while ours was in for service. The vehicle they gave me had an option called "blind spot monitor" on it. While this has been around for a while, I'd never been in a car that had it. Even our 2015 Lexus didn't have it.

Morning all, welcome to yet another day

Yesterday was simply soggy. after a banner start out of the gate, gravity kicked in and the indexes went red and stayed there for  the bulk of the day. It wasn't deep red, and in fact the DOW ended the day up 8, with the S&P losing half a point, and the techs fading for 18.  One has to put these days in perspective, 8 points in a 23.5K market isn't even a rounding error.

Morning folks, welcome to Tuesday.

Yesterday they had so much to munch on, they couldn't quite figure out what they wanted to do. No one seemed willing to do any wholesale selling but no one was really diving in head first either. Between Korea, the Presidents Asia trip, the shooting, Uranium one, and a host of other topics, they decided to just take it easy.  We ended the day with the S&P up 3, the DOW managed 9.

Good morning all, welcome back from the weekend. As is our norm, we hope that your weekend was quite wonderful and you thoroughly enjoyed it.  Many thought that mine would be really special since my wife is in NJ having attended her nieces wedding. But no, there was no true "bachelor Bob" parties. That said, I did have a close friend come over Saturday evening and watch the UFC mixed martial arts fights. It was a tremendous evening of good food and good conversation.  At this stage in my life, going out and raising hell isn't part of my idea of fun. A good friend or two enjoying each others company over some good food and entertainment is however, right up my alley.

Hello all, welcome to Thursday.

So, yesterday they blasted us out of the gate, but it couldn't hold all the gains and we drifted into the close. Yes we were green, but not nearly as green as we started with.  After the bell, the two big names to report was Facebook and Tesla. They were both interesting.

Tesla of course missed the estimates, as their  production bottlenecks have continued to bother them.  But it was FB that I found most interesting.

Hope for the Best
I’ve said this a few times in various newsletters of the past.  The fact is, that your entire existence is reliant on other people. Without the drilling, there’s no oil, no gas. Without the electric company, there’s no power. Without the farmers, there’s no food. Without the town/county most would have no water. On and on it goes. Where would you get rope or a rubber band, or a piece of wire, or a new knife, if “someone else” didn’t make it? While you seem to be independent, you are connected to the system at the hip.  We’re like one huge organism, and each part of it interacts with other parts to keep the whole thing alive.

Yesterday the session was pretty quiet. They weren't about to let things fall, but there was no push to buy things  either. Then of course the big news was that right around the close of business, that terror event took place in NYC, where some nutjob rented a Home Depot truck and decided to mow down a bunch of bike riders that were doing nothing more than enjoying the bike path and the nice day.

Good morning all, welcome to a new day.

So, what was yesterday? Who knows. Maybe the Mueller investigation rattled them. Maybe Tony Podesta stepping down from his own lobbying firm got them thinking this is wider and deeper than they expected. Or maybe it was just a pause day, because Friday was insane?  I'm sure we'll find out.  In any event, we lost 85 DOW points and 8 S&P's, as the market simply didn't have any traction at all.

Hello all, welcome back from your weekend. Was it a good one for you, or just another day? Down here in Florida, we were all celebrating the first real blast of fall weather!  After 7 months of dealing with 85+ degree weather, a couple cold fronts have scooted through, dropping the temps into the 70's and it's been glorious. Sure it's been too windy, but to be able to shut off the A/C and open the windows has been a real blessing.  While the longer term forecast has us back in the low 80's soon, we'll take what we can get!

10.28.2017 - Battery Profits Bookmark

The weekend edition of the Free Investment newsletter is posted and today we take a look at the companies that are supplying the battery industry with the chemicals they need to crank out all those power packs for Electric vehicles. With the soaring demand for EV's, the demand for batteries and the lithium, cobalt, graphite, etc that goes in them is skyrocketing.

So, can we safely invest in this industry? I think so, and we talk about the players involved. Give it a read, I think you might find something useful.
