Good morning all, welcome to another day in a Holiday shortened week.

It's been a crazy week so far. Huge down day Tuesday, big up day Wednesday.  So what does today bring us?

Well, the futures are relatively flat this morning. Like so many days, they've improved since 6 am, and now at 8:15 we see the DOW up a couple, the S&P up 1.

I have to figure that we'll see a few more points added to the pot this morning, as they certainly went all in trying to save this thing from rolling over.  With the small caps putting in an all time high, they'll try and use that to pull the rest of the market higher.

There's been a bit of buzz over GM, as Japan's softbank is investing over 2 billion in their autonomous car venture.

Frankly, I'm too old. I don't want a car that drives for me. Hell, I don't even much like being a passenger when someone else drives. But again, I'm old.

I picked up some QQQ yesterday, taking 200 shares at 170.04.

Is there anything else that I want to add out there?

ATHM looks interesting. It broke out yesterday, so lets see if it takes a little dip this am, and then surges again.

CERS is  looking attractive here. It ran up to the 7 dollar level in early May and has been consolidating sideways ever since.  A move over 6.80 could set this one free.

The IBB is the biotech ETF, and it's been trying to make a move lately. Yesterday it did pretty well, and "could" be setting the stage for more. So we'll watch that.

As much as I'm not a big fan of facebook, it is cruched right up against a resistance that it failed at back in early May. We'll need to see if it makes it through.

So, there's things to watch, and as long as we don't get any goofy news out of Italy, we "should" see them try for a few more points.

Let's chat at 10:40 and see where we are.

5.30.2018 - Free Newsletter, Junk Silver? Bookmark

Hi all,

In today's Free Investment newsletter we're exploring the idea of  "junk" silver. That's US coins minted before 1965 when they still had 90% pure silver in them. Are they worth buying? Are you a Junk silver hunter in your change? Well, you should be. Just 4 1964 quarters have 11.84 dollars worth of silver in them at today's prices.

And yes they're still around. Friday might at a hotel lounge I ordered two drinks for the wife and I. Sure enough in the two quarters she brought me back, one of them was a 1963. That quarter's worth about 2.50 in silver. So I have a small bucket I collect them in.  Read today's Free Investment Newsletter and learn about "junk" silver. You'll find it's not junk!

Buy Junk?

Have you ever heard the term “Junk” Silver?  That’s the commonly used name for US coins that were produced back when Uncle Sam had some integrity, and put real silver in our dimes, quarters, half dollars, etc. Well, it’s not junk and for a couple reasons.

Any dime, quarter, or half dollar minted before 1965 is 90% silver, and 10% copper. Then after the coinage act, 1965 – 70 minted coins only had 40% silver. After that? Now that’s true junk. Our coins are a mix of base metals, but nothing precious in them.  They’re only “worth” what Uncle Sam says they are.

Good morning everyone, welcome back from your Memorial Day Holiday.

I really do hope it was a special day for you all. After all the wars that the US has been involved in, there's very few families that haven't been affected in one way or another. Whether it's a dad or Grandad that was in WWII or Korea, or a father/brother/sister that was in Vietnam, or Iraq, or Afghanistan, most of us have been exposed to someone that was involved. My prayers went out to all.

Good morning all, welcome to yet another Friday. This was supposed to be the start of a wonderful weekend for us. The wife and I haven't had an "escape" weekend since February, so we booked a very nice hotel, and had plans to explore two parks that we'd heard about, but had never visited. Well it was a great plan. Except that mother nature is playing games with us, and we're supposed to get hit with a tropical depression/named storm this weekend.

Hello all, welcome to another day.

Yesterday was another one of those "strange" days, where it seemed like we were going to lose a lot of altitude, only to see them erase a 160 point drop and turn it into a 50+ point gain.

Morning all, welcome to another day.

Well now, hows about that?  Yesterday  I was whining about the idea that there wasn't any volume, and that the market had gotten up to last Monday's intra day high and then faded off.

Good morning all, welcome back from your weekend.  As always, I hope yours was a great one for you. Down here in "not sunny anymore Florida" the switch has been flipped. As I've been mentioning to you, we have a wet season and a dry season. I guess it was about Late October/ early November when we went dry. And dry it was. We didn't have a significant rain event  for months. Then about 10 days ago, "enter the wet" showed up
