China, In or Out?

A couple weeks ago, word hit us that the IMF board was suggesting to the IMF Governors that they wait another year before allowing China’s Yuan into the IMF’s “SDR” basket.  However, the verbiage seemed odd to me. So let’s take a minute here to consider what I think is going on.

Morning all, we're setting up for another incredibly interesting day.

You all know what happened yesterday. The Chinese had let their currency fall by 2% which rattled markets around the world. While we closed a bit off the lows, it was a very ugly session.

Morning everyone, welcome to another day.

Okay there's no sense in yammering about yesterday, it was another in a long string of mindless run ups, based on hype and hope that China's going to do more QE. Our only question is if it's going to last a few days or not. We'll get to that in a moment.

Gold, Silver, Yuans Or Dollars?

For the past two weeks I’ve been attempting to explain the behind the scenes story of what’s happened concerning China and their ambitions to be included in the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights basket. At the end of that discussion, I trailed off with a teaser suggesting that if I’m right and China gets in, is it possible that some of the manipulation of gold and silver comes off and it will be allowed to rise?

What To Do?

I tend to think there’s an “event” coming that will shake up the world and change a lot of our economic foundation. I’ve laid out a mess of these possible events and some of the likely outcomes of them. Things like China being added to the SDR’s, some form of gold backing to those SDR’s and eventually to the Chinese Yuan itself. The probable loss of “Reserve status” for the US dollar, and a global “reset” where nations literally revalue their currencies and debt levels.

Morning everyone, welcome to Friday.

Yesterday they got us well off the lows of the day and for a brief period we were actually green for a few minutes. But it couldn't hold, and we drifted into the close with the DOW off about 40 points.  That makes 4 session in a row where the DOW and the S&P ended red on the day. That's certainly not out of the realm of ordinary, but each day that goes by, now increases the odds of a quick snap back.
