Good morning all, and welcome to another week in market land. I truly hope your weekend was a good one. Down here in hot and humid Florida all our plans got "washed out" big time.

Saturday was running around day, doing some groceries and what have you. That was supposed to set us up for going bike riding and beaching after Church on Sunday. Well, mother nature had different plans. Right at about noon time things started looking nasty and at about 1 pm the rain and thunder rolled in. But that was just the prelude. At about 2 pm, the mother of all lightening storms descended on us, with bolt after bolt hitting trees and the ground in our area.

Good morning everyone, welcome back from your weekend. Hopefully it was a great one for you all.  Down here in sunny Florida, the "season" is beginning to switch. The dry season started in November, and by and large, it simply hasn't rained for months. Sure we'd get the occasional spritz, but no real rain. But June officially starts the rainy season, and now that we're in May, the first looks at some rain are beginning.

Good morning all, welcome to a new, and "holiday shortened" week. Yes folks the market is closed on Friday for the Important Religious holiday, and for that I say "good!"

So, how was your weekend? Down here in Florida, once again the Weather God's were smiling all weekend.  I know what my friends on the Jersey shore have been going through and no, I'm not rubbing it in. But there are times, and this weekend was one of them, where I don't think you could ask for anything better. A cool 60ish morning, steadily warming to about 78, with that deep blue, horizon to horizon sky.  This is why people come to Florida.

Good morning all, welcome back from what I hope was a tremendous weekend for yourselves. I know my friends up in the Northeast got walloped with some nasty weather late last week, and if you're one of those that got hit, I hope it all went okay. Down here in Florida, this weekend is the reason that so many tens of thousands continue to move here. After 13 days of near record breaking high temps, things got "wonderful".

The Storm

Hello everyone, I've made it through the storm.  I'm sorry about not putting out a letter on Sunday or Wednesday, but as you all know, Hurricane Irma made a visit to our part of Florida and well, things just took a bit of time to get 'normal".

For some in Florida, normal won't be for two years. For others like me, normal started showing up Thursday when the power came on. So, while I don't want to bore you with all the gory details, let me give you the Readers Digest version of things.

Good morning all, welcome to Thursday.

First off let me start with this.... I'm going to be preoccupied with Irma today. This monster is still bearing down on us and I'm going to use a lot of today to prepare my place as best as possible. Judging by the latest maps, there's simply no way out of this mess. It's going to land on Florida somewhere, and with the wind cone as big as it is, there's no place in Florida that won't get blasted.  I've got a lot to do. Even gasoline is a problem. Most stations are out and the ones that still have fuel often have 30 or more cars in line.

Good morning everyone, welcome back from your weekend. I hope it was a great one for you all.  Just a heads up, this coming weekend is a 3 day event for us market watchers. The market  is closed on the 20th for Washington's birthday.

Hello everyone, welcome back from what I hope was a long and wonderful weekend. After enjoying the Thanksgiving Holiday, the wife and I did some fun "poking around" the west coast of Florida, taking in the scenery. Florida is indeed a beautiful state if you like the water. There's so many miles of mangroves and islands, and rivers and bays. It's really gorgeous. Oh and speaking of gorgeous, right now we are experiencing exactly why so many people come here for the winter. Yesterday we did our bike ride and it was bright sunny, not a cloud in the sky, 79ish... just perfect.  Cooler nights and perfect days is what put the west coast of Florida on the map from Nov - March

Hey everyone....

NOTE>>>  I probably won't be doing an afternoon update. As you might imagine this goofy Hurricane that's coming up from the Bahama's has us all on edge. Granted we're on the west coast, and the models still have it hitting the East coast and traveling north. The problem however is that Florida's only 150 miles wide. So if this thing drifts just a little bit more to the west, all the people that evacuated from Miami and Broward to come our way, are going to find that we're catching hell too. So I'll probably err on the side of safety and use this afternoon to batten the hatches.

Hello all, welcome back from the weekend. As always I hope it was a good one for you all. My heart goes out to all our friends in Louisiana who have suffered through those horrendous rains. 20 inches in 24 hours is something very few people have ever had to deal with. Down here in Florida, we've been getting torrential rains every day, but at least they're only lasting 45 minutes or so.  It's bothersome, but not threatening. The folks in the New Orlean's area are in trouble.  Our prayers go out to them.
