Morning all, welcome to the never ending rally. Yesterday they couldn't get much in gear for the morning session, but then as the day wore on, they came piling in. We ended the day with the DOW up 84, the S&P up 4 and up 18 with the NASDAQ.

Good morning all, welcome to a new day.

Wasn't yesterday a hoot? Out of the gate big, pushing for new highs, and then all of a sudden the air came out and from up 80, we went red by 26. The details of the tax reform plan was being "leaked" and they didn't love it.
But then Trump got on TV in a live interview, and he pushed it as the best thing since sliced bread. The market bought it hook, line and sinker.

The Storm

Hello everyone, I've made it through the storm.  I'm sorry about not putting out a letter on Sunday or Wednesday, but as you all know, Hurricane Irma made a visit to our part of Florida and well, things just took a bit of time to get 'normal".

For some in Florida, normal won't be for two years. For others like me, normal started showing up Thursday when the power came on. So, while I don't want to bore you with all the gory details, let me give you the Readers Digest version of things.

Hello all, my grind continues,  but to be honest, I have it so much better than so many that I should just keep my mouth shut. We got power back yesterday, however it took quite a while for cable to come back and it's not that stable. Internet is...iffy at best.

Good Morning everyone, what an adventure it's been down here. One of these days I'll tell you about all of it because I could write a novel about the ordeal.  Are we all safe? Yes. Was everything smooth? Not on your life. Just for a "for instance" Me and several of my friends had booked rooms in the Hyatt hotel in Sarasota. They told us on the phone that they'd be a great place to hunker down, as they had generators, food for the restaurant and built to very modern spec's.  So we figured we'd board up our homes, and shelter there.

Again?

It’s Monday morning. I’m sitting here looking at the spaghetti string models of Hurricane Irma. I have to tell you, I’m not warm and fuzzy with what I see. Yes it’s a week away. However, on this particular day, 4 of the “better” models have Irma hitting Southern Florida and coming right up the center of the state.  Only one has it putting in a really hard right turn late in the week and sending it up into the Carolina/Virginia area.

It Has Begun

No Trump, no Syria, no Russians, no politics today. Today we take a break from that stuff and swing over to something very important...your safety.  So let me start by saying I’m writing this Tuesday afternoon, and there’s a storm brewing.

June starts “hurricane” season and it is starting off with a bang. Tropical storm warnings have been posted along the Louisiana coast for a developing system now in the Gulf of Mexico.

The system is labeled “Potential Tropical Cyclone Three” , which is a new designation from the National Hurricane Center for systems that have not developed yet, but that will likely bring tropical storm impacts soon.

Good morning all and yes I really mean goooooood morning. Hurricane Matthew wobbled about 40 miles to the East, sparing the East coast of Florida the monster devastation that would have happened if indeed the eyewall had come ashore. So instead of being one of the most destructive Hurricanes to ever make land fall, it became a giant pain in the butt instead. Yes there's some damage. Yes there's some power outtages. Yes a lot of peoples lives were disrupted. But compared to what "could have been" if it had just drifted 40 miles west...we dodged a big bullet.

Hey everyone....

NOTE>>>  I probably won't be doing an afternoon update. As you might imagine this goofy Hurricane that's coming up from the Bahama's has us all on edge. Granted we're on the west coast, and the models still have it hitting the East coast and traveling north. The problem however is that Florida's only 150 miles wide. So if this thing drifts just a little bit more to the west, all the people that evacuated from Miami and Broward to come our way, are going to find that we're catching hell too. So I'll probably err on the side of safety and use this afternoon to batten the hatches.

The Water Problem

Here it is, late August and the West coast of Africa is tossing off a line of unsettled weather, that crosses the lower Atlantic and ends up as a depression, Tropical storm or hurricane on our shores. I’m pretty darned familiar with such things as living through Super Storm Sandy was the ultimate teacher of Preparedness.

I mentioned the other day that I think some form of “event” is going to take place over the next 6 months. Whether that’s a war, an economic disaster, a political assassination, etc, it just has a creepy feeling to it. So, with Hurricane season on us, the insane flooding in Louisiana, the fires out west...I figured it was time to do some articles about self preservation, both physical and financial. Let’s start with the most important life force....water.
