Morning all, welcome to a new day.

Okay so yesterday was soggy all day, but they didn't let the bottom fall out. They flirted with green a few times, but when the final bell rang, we were red on the DOW and the S&P. It wasn't a horrible drop and one could make the case that a 33 point drop in a market this high...is insignificant.

Good morning all, welcome to a new day.

NOTE>>>>  Friday will be like "last Friday" for me, my son and I are traveling back to FL.  Just a heads up that I'll be pretty scarce this coming Friday.

8.17.2015 - China Blast Bookmark

I'm sure that by now all of you know of the massive blast that rocked the port/warehouse district in China. Folks I don't want to be the conspiracy nut here, but that whole story is NOT adding up. Why did China send "nuclear scientists" to the area? Why was there a mushroom cloud? Why was the damage so great that a "lake" formed at the blast site, very similar to the lakes created when Russia tested their nuclear bombs?

Was that some kind of an attack? Was some type of device set off?  I find it funny how there were a couple small explosions, sort of like to get everyone's attention on the area and then that "big blast" that was then of course caught on cell phones. Now there's rumor that the death toll could be over 1400 and not the 100 we're being told. All in all that whole situation is very sketchy. Something stinks.

Hello everyone, welcome to a new week. I certainly hope you all had a great weekend.  I almost feel guilty being up in NJ this week enjoying bright blue sky, while my wife is in FL putting up with day after day of horrible rains. (almost)  In Tampa, the rain has been so relentless that flooding is an almost daily occurrence. Before I had left to come north our local weather guy mentioned that the average rain fall for the whole year was about 26 inches and parts of Tampa had already gotten 46 inches. Where's Noah and that boat?

China, In or Out?

A couple weeks ago, word hit us that the IMF board was suggesting to the IMF Governors that they wait another year before allowing China’s Yuan into the IMF’s “SDR” basket.  However, the verbiage seemed odd to me. So let’s take a minute here to consider what I think is going on.

Good morning all, welcome to the last trading day of the week, and boy what a week it's been. We've certainly seen a lot of interesting news, from the Chinese devaluing their currency, to the Chinese announcing another huge increase in their gold holdings.

Hello everyone, welcome to Thursday...

Yesterday we did indeed get the "Vee" rebound I suggested we might get. Part of it was "buy the dip" people scrambling for what they think are bargains, but probably a bigger part was that a ton of companies that have announced buy backs, decided to start implementing their buy backs on such a big down day.

8.12.2015 China devalues again! Bookmark

Monday night we learned that the Chinese had devalued their currency by 2%, which is a MONSTER slash. On Tuesday, global markets responded by puking all over the place. Everyone hoped that things would settle down, but no...last night the Chinese slashed their currency again, plunging it another 2% before stepping in right at the close to "prop it back up" some.  That's got the global markets rattled once again.

But we've been down a lot lately and some form of "snap back" rally is probably in the cards. Even if I'm right and the market has "topped" back in May, there's going to pops and drops, and we're due for a pop. So keep an eye out for a mindless romp higher. It could come from a Fed head hinting that rate hikes will be delayed, or even worse...a new stimulus plan might be in the works. Either will send the market higher,.

Morning all, we're setting up for another incredibly interesting day.

You all know what happened yesterday. The Chinese had let their currency fall by 2% which rattled markets around the world. While we closed a bit off the lows, it was a very ugly session.

Morning everyone, welcome to another day.

Okay there's no sense in yammering about yesterday, it was another in a long string of mindless run ups, based on hype and hope that China's going to do more QE. Our only question is if it's going to last a few days or not. We'll get to that in a moment.
