They did it again.

Yesterday the market tried to work its way higher, but ran into a gob of resistance starting around 2087, and couldn't get through. So it faded all the way down to RED by late afternoon. But because illusion is the name of the game right now, in the final moments they rallied the troops and pulled off an 18 point DOW gain and a fractional gain in the S&P.

It gets old, no? Yes.

Morning all, welcome to Thursday.

Yesterday got sort of stupid. JPM is blamed for being the catalyst to the almost 200 point gain, but frankly they were nothing more than an excuse that pushed us up over that 2075 level on the S&P. Once we saw that,  and then the Atlanta Fed HIKED their GDP estimates, it became a short covering frenzy.

Good morning all, welcome to Wednesday.

Yesterday the market was on the verge of "losing it". The S&P had gone red, and was trading below the lower boundary of the "box" the market had been in.  Losing 2042 was something they couldn't afford, yet in early trading it was at just 2039 and looking weak.  So they regurgitated a headline from February about Russia and Saudi agreeing on a production cap.

Morning all, welcome to a new day.

Yesterday was sort of a replay of Friday. We opened big and bright, and then ran straight up for a gain of 155 DOW points. But then the air came out again and we fell all the way back down to Red. The only difference is that on Friday they did a last minute stick save to put on a green close for the weekend, while yesterday they just let the market close red.

Did you see it? Late in the Session Friday, with just 20 minutes to go the DOW was red, the NASDAQ was red and the S&P was hanging on by a point. Then like "magic" it happened.  They were NOT going to go into the weekend with a red close, and "here they came".  With just minutes to go, we started climbing and instead of being down by 8 points the DOW ended green by 35 and the S&P picked up 6.

Good morning all, we've made it to Friday.  (Whew!)

In Sunday night's letter I suggested that my feeling was that we'd trade sideways and down this week. Well so far that's come true. Opening Monday at 2073 on the S&P, we fell Monday and Tuesday, bounced big Wednesday and then rolled back over Thursday.

As yesterday afternoon was developing, the market started to swoon. At one point the DOW was down over 215 points, and the S&P was down about 30+. It looked like they had finally decided to "pull the plug"  But...we'd seen things like this before, only to see them save the day.

Good morning all, welcome to a whacky world...

Yesterday, for no really wonderfully apparent reason, the market put in a big up day. We snagged 112 DOW points and 21 on the S&P. I readily admit I got it wrong, I thought we were going to put in our 3rd red day in a row. Ha, fat chance. They ramped us right up.

Good morning all, welcome to Wednesday.

So yesterday, the market put in a relatively poor day. The DOW lost 133, the S&P dumped for 20. It was also the second red day in a row, something that's been pretty rare for the last month.

Hello all, it seems we've woken to a grumpy world this morning.

Indexes all around the world are in the red this morning, and some of them by quite a bit. Here in the states our futures are down sharply with the DOW off about 110 and the S&P off 15.   While there's a ton of things that you could blame for this little pout party, there really isn't any one single issue that Trumps all the rest

Good morning all, welcome back from your weekend. As always I hope it was a really good one for you all. Down here in "Sunny" Florida, Saturday wasn't so sunny. We had a series of horrific "boomers" roll through, and some of them packed quite a punch. But Sunday dawned clear and the wife and I got in our bike ride and our beach stroll.
