DOW 50K

I don’t know the number, but there must be like 10K newsletters out there. Some of them are pretty good, some pretty funny and some not worth the digital ink they’re written on.  But there’s certainly no shortage of them.

Over the many years I’ve been doing this letter, I’ve seen work posted on chat rooms, bulletin boards, web sites, blog sites, etc, from dozens if not hundreds of so called guru’s and experts. Like many, sometimes they’re hot, and sometimes they’re not. But as you cruise the net, it is fun to get all the perspectives.

Animal Farm

Remember Animal Farm?  It caused quite the stir so many years ago when it was published.  By definition, it was a satirical Novella. Let’s look:

(1945) is a satirical novella (which can also be understood as a modern fable or allegory) by George Orwell, ostensibly about a group of animals who oust the humans from the farm on which they live. They run the farm themselves, only to have it degenerate into a brutal tyranny of its own.

It Has Begun

No Trump, no Syria, no Russians, no politics today. Today we take a break from that stuff and swing over to something very important...your safety.  So let me start by saying I’m writing this Tuesday afternoon, and there’s a storm brewing.

June starts “hurricane” season and it is starting off with a bang. Tropical storm warnings have been posted along the Louisiana coast for a developing system now in the Gulf of Mexico.

The system is labeled “Potential Tropical Cyclone Three” , which is a new designation from the National Hurricane Center for systems that have not developed yet, but that will likely bring tropical storm impacts soon.

Civil War

If I asked you why a civil war might break out in this country, what would be your reason for it?  Probably the first thing that would come to your mind is the cleave, the divide, the absolute opposite poles of the more staunch “right” and the liberal “left” and I would have no issue with that.  But I think it’s much deeper than that, and I also think it’s being bred in places you might not have thought of.

You all know the deal. Some 66 year old mind numbed Bernie supporter leaves his wife in Illinois and camps out in his van for a couple months, right at the field that the Congress folks use to play their charity game. Then at one of the practices, he makes sure it’s the Republicans on the field and starts shooting them.   Everyone with a firing brain cell could see this coming. Some of us have even predicted it.

Chicken Little

The story of Henny Penny, also called Chicken Little, or sometimes Chicken-licken (not to be confused with “Finger-licken” from Kentucky Fried Chicken), the terrified little chicken convinced that the sky is falling and that life as we, or at least as chickens know it, is over... is so common that “the sky is falling!” and “Chicken Little” and related names have become bywords for fearmongering, and the often tragic results that occur.

Off the Rails

It’s been quite a while since I left the reservation and did a talk about “conspiracy” stuff, and today I’d like to go there for a change.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re well aware that since the Election of Donald Trump, there’s been nothing in the news OTHER than Trump, Russia, hacking, leaks, Comey, Wikileaks, Emails, etc. etc.  It never stops, and one of the most prescient forecasts I ever made was Election night when I said to everyone “this isn’t over”  I didn’t know how right I was.

Predictions

A prediction (Latin præ-, "before," and dicere, "to say"), or forecast, is a statement about an uncertain event. It is often, but not always, based upon experience or knowledge. There is no universal agreement about the exact difference between the two terms; different authors and disciplines ascribe different connotations.

The Double Whammy

It’s quite hard to write a “financial” letter 2 times a week for almost 25 years and not go over some of the same things.   Knowing that I try my best to change it up as often as I can, so repetition doesn’t bore you and I to tears.

However, there’s something that I’ve written about before that I think needs not only closer inspection, but a real hard “think” about the ramifications.  So let’s get started with the first part of the double whammy...

Memorial Day

This holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, actually started as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868.  That is when the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Union veterans founded in Decatur, Illinois, established it as a day for the nation to decorate the graves of the Union war dead with flowers.
