Hello everyone, welcome to the last trading day of 2017. In some ways it was a pretty good year, and in others it wasn't.  Leaning long and taking pot shots at rising sectors has worked well for us. On the other hand, the mania over bitcoin, has left most of the precious metals in the dust bin.

Good morning all, it's Thursday already. These Monday Holidays toss my whole week into a tizzy, how'd it get to be Thursday already?  Oh well.

So yesterday they allowed the market to rise, but it was a low volume event that didn't get terribly far.  It was the second lowest volume day of the year. This morning the futures are again green, but not by too much. That said, they have been rising since 6 am, and by 6:30 were up 47 on the DOW.

Today's free letter is posted and in this one, I start off telling you all how humbled I was from someone that made a "donation" to our site to keep the letter free. Humbled because of the size of the donation, and why he made it. I share the story. Then, we move on to what the market might bring us in January

Have you heard of the January effect? It's pretty real, but it doesn't always happen. So while there's a good chance the market blasts higher as new money rolls in, we also have the folks that might want to do a bit of profit taking in the  new year, because they won't have to pay taxes on that money until 2019. If they sold their stocks today, they'd have to pay in April.

So give it a read, and I hope you like it.

At the bottom of every letter, there’s a “donate” button. I put it there about a year ago, because we had folks over the years that tell us “we don’t do any investing, but I like reading your letters, is there any way I can toss you a few bucks?”

Well this week I got notice of a donation, and figured it had to be a mistake. I’m not talking thousands, but it was quite large, and I contacted the donor. I said thank you for the donation, but surely you made a mistake. He said there was no mistake, and that he has enjoyed our letters and wanted to help keep them coming.  But what got me all emotional was when he said he forwards my letters to his daughters, because he thinks some of them are important enough that he wants them to read it.

Well now. The one sector that had been pretty perky (energy) is taking a break today. The techs, which had been asleep are catching a bit of a bid, nothing major, but they're 'up".

Morning all, Let's see if today is a bit more friendly than yesterday. Between a late night on Monday, and then the internet outage on Tuesday, it just wasn't my day. But a good nights sleep and a functioning office this morning appears to have put things back in proper order

Hi all, we've made it to Friday and not a day too soon.

Sometimes life is a funny beast. Just the other day I went to the dentist for a checkup and a quick clean. Everything was fine, no issues. So what happens? Last night at dinner, one of my cap's came unglued!  I darn near swallowed it. So, I have to run back this morning and get it cemented back in.  Go figure.

Hello all, welcome to another day.

Yesterday they weren't willing to let the market fall, but they weren't much into buying it up either.  So we drifted into the close just barely red across the board.

Good morning all, welcome to Wednesday.

Yesterday afternoon, didn't go as I expected. My game plan was to hit the dentist, come back to the office and fire off an update. What happened instead, I won't dwell on, but a friend passed yesterday, and tossed our day into a bit of a mess.

Hello all, are you ready for another day in wonderland?

Yesterday the melt up continued unabated. The opening futures suggested a 150 point DOW gain at the open and we got it.  There was a few periods of light slippage, but when the final bell rang we were up huge across the board.
